Shred-Tech Boosts Growth Momentum with New Hires

Cambridge, ON – July 16, 2008 – Shred-Tech, a world leader in information destruction and recycling systems, today announced the appointments of Tom Mayer to service center manager and Scott Laing to service operations manager.
In his role as service center manager, Mayer is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Shred-Tech’s Apex, NC service center facility and ensuring that customers continue to receive the highest quality service that Shred-Tech is known to provide.
Mayer brings to Shred-Tech more than 18 years of management experience in the document destruction and solid waste industries. Previously with a large document destruction and solid waste hauling company in Chicago, Mayer held a variety of management roles throughout his 12-year tenure. Most recently, Mayer served as manager of the document destruction division where he was responsible for the company’s day-to-day operations, driver training and overall sales growth. Earlier, he was the sales manager for the document destruction and solid waste division.
Prior to that time, Mayer held a variety of roles from sales to operations management at Sexton Disposal, a landfill and hauling operation. Most recently, Mayer was the operations manager and was responsible for the company’s day-to-day operations in the residential, commercial, and roll-off divisions. He also led sales efforts, employee hiring, and safety training initiatives.
Mayer is an active member of the National Association of Information Destruction.
In his role as service operations manager, Laing is responsible for ensuring Shred-Tech customer satisfaction through managing a team of technical support specialists and supervising all key service business processes including customer call management, preventive maintenance programs, service strategy implementation and service center support.
Prior to joining Shred-Tech, Laing was the branch manager of Culligan of Canada’s Cambridge facility for more than 17 years. In this role, he managed more than 60 employees in the branch’s sales, operations and administrative departments.
Most notably, Laing led the effort in growing the branch’s sales by more than 21 percent. Additionally, his facility placed 2nd in North America with Culligan’s President Club and he received the Culligan Award of Excellence for sales growth year-over-year. Laing also received the company’s Safety Excellence Award in 2006 and 2007 for having a zero time lost incident rate.
