CAMBRIDGE, ONTARIO, 9 September, 2009– Shred-Tech is hosting their 2nd ‘Shred Day’, providing an
opportunity for people to prevent identity theft by shredding personal documents in support of the United
Way of Cambridge and North Dumfries. Saturday, October 3 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the Cambridge
Centre parking lot (355 Hespeler Rd.) by The Bay entrance. Individuals can shred personal documents for
$2 a bag or $4 a bankers box with all proceeds going to the United Way.

Shred-Tech’s last ‘Shred Day’ held in May raised $1,320 for the United Way’s 2009 campaign. “We
were extremely happy with the success of the first ‘Shred Day’”, said Brad Park, Director of Development
for the United Way of Cambridge and North Dumfries. Park continued, “Proper disposal of personal
documents is something that everyone should be doing. The fact that Shred-Tech combined this with a
fundraiser for our United Way is a win win for everyone involved.”

“People should shred their personal documents to prevent identity thieves from using personal
information to access existing accounts and to open new, fraudulent accounts in someone else’s name,”
said Karen Payne, Shred-Tech’s United Way Co-ordinator. Examples of personal documents that should be
disposed of in a safe and secure manner are pay cheque stubs, credit card statements, bank statements,
medical invoices, utility/monthly bills, and former tax records.

Shred-Tech has been supporting the United Way for years. They run an employee campaign and
match employee dollars corporately $1 for $1. Last year they had their most successful campaign ever
raising $13,541 from a combination of corporate, employee and special event dollars.
