What is Preventative Maintenance?
Preventative Maintenance, (PM) is an essential program to make sure that your shredding equipment is kept in peak working conditions. The simplest way to keep on top of PM services for your shredding equipment is to follow the regiment provided in your equipment manual at the time of purchase. Setting up a daily/weekly and monthly routine will allow you the comfort to know that any thing that may be a catalyst to causing an issue later down the line is caught and addressed in a timeline manner.
A more in depth quarterly or semi annually service should be performed by an industry professional. They will be able to go beyond the day-to-day items and to provide detailed information on major components which are beginning to wear & need to be addressed soon. Items such as, cutting chamber wear, roller or conveyance issues, electrical connections, wear & corrosion that may eventually cause significant risk to the operation of the system, (missing / extreme wear or damaged components which will cause downtime as well as additional damage). PMs by a qualified professional will also ensure that your system is put into proper operating specifications and will identify items that need attention.
