The Benefits of Telematics in the Shredding Industry

Below is a list of the top 5 reasons telematics are important in the shredding industry and how they can benefit you and your business.

1. GPS location - Using GPS and geofencing, you can determine safer and more efficient routes, which can decrease fuel consumption and increase number of stops. Other than route optimization, notifications of triggered geofences can be sent, such as entering the paper recyclers or specific customers. It could be used as a proof of site visit.

2. Shredder system monitoring - Remotely monitor pressures and temperatures of shredder, auger, bin tipper, etc. to ensure no issues or improper usage.

3. Vehicle maintenance - Maintenance schedules are tracked remotely, which allows the owner to keep track and schedule it when it is most convenient. Allows Shred-Tech to remote diagnose and push updates from the factory to fix any issues that may come up.

4. Safety - Owner can view operators driving habits via telematics. If the driver brakes too hard or accelerates too fast it can let them know so they can provide coaching to reduce excessive wear on chassis.

5.Alerts - Stakeholders can receive customized reports for performance in any interval they'd like. Text messages or emails can also be sent to alert the stakeholders of any catastrophic events when triggered.

Coming Soon Shred-Tech will be releasing Shred-Tech Connect, a complete service solution for your shredding equipment. Shred-Tech Connect will give customers access to the e-parts portal where they can view and order parts for their equipment, explore manuals and view part drawings. Along with the e-parts portal, customers can choose to sign-up for a telematics subscription that will allow them the ability to remotely monitor their equipment.
